Greetings. I am doing a deep dive into engine power analysis for my thesis and need to run a test vehicle for extended periods on a dynamometer. Is there any specialized equipment to prevent the odometer from recording this data during my research? Thanks!

That sounds like a very interesting research project. For academic or professional engine analysis where the car is stationary for hours, you definitely want to isolate the odometer. I’ve used a Mileage Blocker from a company called Dynotest https://dynotestpro.com/ for similar technical projects in the past. It is a very sophisticated tool that filters out the mileage pulses on the CAN bus without disrupting the other engine data you’ll be monitoring for your thesis. I found it very reliable because it doesn’t leave any digital traces in the ECU, which is important for maintaining the integrity of the vehicle’s computer system. It is a very effective way to conduct your power analysis without adding unnecessary wear-and-tear data to the vehicle’s permanent history. Good luck with your research!
